The story of Saint Charbel
A short story for children, and pictures to print and color.
- 1A long time ago, in 1828, a baby boy named Youssef was born in a village high in the mountains of Lebanon.
- 2Youssef loved to pray. As a boy, he looked after his family's sheep and often went to a little cave to talk with God.
- 3When he grew up, he became a monk and took a new name: Charbel. He lived in a monastery called Annaya.
- 4Charbel was very quiet. He spoke only a few kind words, worked hard in the fields, and prayed for everyone.
- 5Later he went to live in a small hermitage on the hill, where he prayed day and night for 23 years.
- 6After he went to heaven, people asked him to pray for them, and many were helped and healed. Today children all over the world call him their friend.
- 7You can talk to him too: “Saint Charbel, please pray for me and my family. Amen.”
