Prayer to Saint Charbel
Lord, infinitely holy and glorified in Your saints, You inspired Charbel, the saint monk, to lead the perfect life of a hermit. We thank You for granting him the blessing and the strength to detach himself from the world so that the heroism of the monastic virtues of poverty, obedience and chastity could triumph in his hermitage. We beseech You to grant us the grace of loving and serving You, following his example. Almighty God, who has manifested the power of Saint Charbel's intercession through his continuous miracles and favours, grant us the grace we request through his intercession. Amen.

How to pray the novena
A novena is nine days of prayer for one intention. Many people begin nine days before his feast, but you can pray it at any time.
- Make the Sign of the Cross and name your intention.
- Read the short reflection for the day (below).
- Pray the Prayer to Saint Charbel.
- Pray one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be.
- End with: "Saint Charbel, pray for us."

Faith
Ask for a faith as steadfast as Charbel's, who left everything to follow Christ.
Day 2
Humility
Pray to choose the hidden, quiet path over praise and recognition.
Day 3
Silence
Ask for inner silence to hear God, as the hermit of Annaya did.
Day 4
Prayer
Pray for a heart that returns to God throughout the day.
Day 5
Obedience
Ask for the grace to accept God's will, even when it is hard.
Day 6
Love of the Eucharist
Pray for a deeper love of the Mass, which Charbel celebrated with tears.

The chaplet
A chaplet is a short prayer you count on beads. A simple way to pray it, using an ordinary rosary or your fingers:
- Start with the Creed and the Prayer to Saint Charbel.
- On each of the three large beads, pray an Our Father.
- On each small bead, pray: "Saint Charbel, hermit of Annaya, intercede for us."
- Finish with a Glory Be and your intention.
Local parishes and the Maronite Church may use slightly different forms — any heartfelt version is welcome.
His feast day
The Maronite Church celebrates Saint Charbel on the third Sunday of July. In the general Roman calendar his memorial is on 24 July. Pilgrims gather at Annaya in great numbers for the feast, and many parishes hold special Masses and processions.
