A Child Moves at the Procession
Bassem Zakaria Moussalli · Annaya, Lebanon
Bassem Zakaria Moussalli was born in 2017 in Homs, Syria, to a Sunni Muslim family. He was born paralysed because of a problem in his brain's development.
In August 2019 his grandmother brought him to the monthly procession from the hermitage to the monastery in Annaya. At the tomb she placed a few grains of its soil in his mouth.
During the Mass, a pilgrim named Aline Awad touched cotton soaked in Saint Charbel's oil to his head, hands and legs. At that moment he began to move and to say small words. An Aleteia photographer was present. This has not been examined or confirmed by the Church as a miracle.
