Beyond Every Border
Pilgrims of every faith · Annaya & the world
Among the most striking features of devotion to Saint Charbel is that it has crossed every religious and cultural boundary. Of the tens of thousands of testimonies recorded by the monastery in Annaya, a significant proportion come from Muslims, Druze, and people of no formal faith.
Pilgrims of every background climb the mountain to his tomb to ask for healings of body and soul, for reconciliation in their families, for children long awaited. Many return to give thanks; others write from across the world, sending photographs, votive offerings, and accounts of graces received.
The monks of Annaya carefully archive each letter. Taken together, they form a quiet, multilingual chorus — a witness, century after century, that the mercy of God passes through this humble hermit and is offered without measure to all who ask.
